Key Replacement

The best offense is a good defense, when you get your outboard motor (or read this week's tech tip), write your key number down in a safe place, like your owner's manual. Each Yamaha Outboard Key has a three digit number on the side for identifying. If you know your key number, all you have to do it walk into your closest Yamaha Dealer and pick up a replacement. However, if you lose your key and don't know what number is on it, it's a little more difficult to replace. Watch this video on how to disassemble your main switch to find the key number, or have your local dealer find it for you.

And, while you are writing your key number down, also write your spark plug number and propeller pitch and diameter for fast, easy replacement.
